BUCKHANNON -- A concert by country music singer Keith Urban, a car show and the state woodchoppers competition highlight this year's Upshur County Fair at the Buckhannon-Upshur High School/Recreation Park on Route 20 just south of Buckhannon.
Sarah Kay Fisher will reign as queen over this year's festival, which opens Friday and runs through Sunday. David Miller, deputy state agriculture commissioner, will speak at the opening ceremonies, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday.
Numerous events are set for Friday, said fair spokeswoman Annette Hyre, including exhibits, a flower show and the Upshur County Human Society's fourth annual Picture Pet Show. Demonstrations on quilting and soap making will be held throughout the three-day run of the fair, and representatives of several national consumer companies will be available with their products, she said.
