CAMERON -- For the third game in a row, Notre Dame shut out their opponent.
Thanks to that and an already potent offense, the Irish are now 3-0 following an impressive 35-0 win over the Cameron Dragons Friday night.
Senior tailback Trey Simmerman rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns and scored another touchdown on a 19-yard pass from Tyler Musgrave to lead ND offensively, while Jonathan Harris, Joey Brunetti and Tyler Vincent all had nine tackles in the game.
"They came out a little flat to start the game," Irish coach Sam Alvaro said. "All year long, though, it's been all about our defense.
"Tonight, we got great penetration from our front four."
The Notre Dame defense intercepted three passes, including a pair picked off by Jon Thomas. They also held Cameron out of the end zone with a goal line stand late in the third quarter.
"They're a good team, especially up here, but we came out and played hard," Alvaro said.
Jamie Sampson added a 9-yard run the third quarter and Musgrave capped the scoring in the fourth with a 6-yard run.
Simmerman also kicked three extra points in the game and finished with 21 points scored.
