WEST UNION -- Doddridge County and Gilmer County rolled to easy, first-round wins and will meet in the championship game of the Kermit Vanscoy Invitational at Doddridge County High School.
The Bulldogs defeated Calhoun County, 54-36, while Gilmer County rolled, 69-31, past Robert C. Byrd.
In the opening contest, Doddridge (2-3) jumped to an 11-4 lead in the first quarter, but Natalie White and Brandi Richards fueled an 8-0 run to pull Calhoun County (0-5) within 14-12 at the 4:44 mark of the second.
The Bulldogs then went on a 10-0 run to extend the lead to 24-12 behind Kate Clark, who scored nine of her 11 points in the first half. Lisa Davis finished with a team-high 18 points for Doddridge County, including eight in first half.
Calhoun closed to within seven points in the third quarter, but was unable to get any closer.
Richards led Calhoun with 20 points.
In the final game of the night, Gilmer County (4-2) stormed to a 28-2 lead and was never threatened.
Amy Skinner led the Titans with 16 points, and teammates Jodi Cunningham and Denae Dobbins added 14 and 13 points, respectively.
"It's hard to come back from something like that," Robert C. Byrd coach Debbie Bastin said.
"We've been off for a while and it definitely showed. (Gilmer) has a really nice team, though."
Freshman Keisha Bowsman led the Eagles (1-6) with 11 points.
n BRIDGEPORT 89, Edison, Ohio 60: Vince Veltri continued his torrid play, leading four Bridgeport players in double-figures with a game-high 24 points as the Indians (3-2) defeated Edison, Ohio, 89-60 in the consolation game of the Domino's-Brooke Holiday Tournament.
Tyler Dodd followed with 17 points, and teammates Chris Liebig and Brandon Brumage added 15 and 11 points, respectively.
