Barnes scores 28 to help Cougars snap three game skid

From Staff Reports

HAMBLETON - Mitch Barnes scored a game-high 28 points to lead Lincoln to a 72-68 win over Tucker County.

Barnes, who connected on five 3-pointers, was followed by teammates David Ray Harris and Steve Howe, who scored 15 and 13 points, respectively.

"It feels good to get back in the win column," Lincoln coach Rob Hawkins said. "It's really good for the kids. We went through a tough stretch when I don't think we played very badly. I'm glad to see them get this one. It's a big lift for them."

n GILMER COUNTY 82, Notre Dame 59: Chad Westfall scored 23 points, including six 3-pointers, as Gilmer County started the second half with a 12-0 run and went on to a win over Notre Dame.

Josh Maxwell led the Irish (1-10) with 25 points, while teammate Jeremy Wright added 14 points.

"It pretty much went back and forth for most of the first half," Notre Dame coach Mike Robey said. Gilmer County "came out and just started bombing 3s and from then on, we had to play catch up."

Notre Dame returns to action tonight when it travels to Harman.

n DODDRIDGE COUNTY 70, St. Marys 58: Adam Cross led four Doddridge County players in double-digit scoring in a win over St. Marys.

Cross scored 15 points, while teammate BenJo McKinney followed with 14 points. Brad Wilt and Chris Gum each added 13 points for the Bulldogs (6-7).

Derrick Oldfield and Nick Lanham each scored 14 points (5-10) to lead St. Marys.

n ELKINS 78, Philip Barbour 53: Jackie Lewis scored 20 points and Casey Clegg and Jamie Doerr each added 17 to lead Elkins to a road victory.

Angie Burner paced Philip Barbour (2-11) with 14 points, followed by Gina Ware with 12.
