Howard S. Blare

SHINNSTON -- Howard Simuel "Bud" Blare, 64, of Wyatt, died at 3 a.m. Friday, July 23, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 11, 1934, a son of Virginia Ted Blare, Ohio, and the late Howard T. Blare.
His wife, Judith Ann Blare, survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert Marshall, Ohio, Danny Harbert, Brown, and Steve Blare, North Carolina; one daughter, Patricia Kearns, Wyatt; two brothers, Mike Blare, Kansas, and Danny Blare, West Virginia; four sisters, Candy Stollings, Marion Kraus, Ellen Sigley, all of Ohio, and Sue Fox, West Virginia, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Larry Blare, and one sister, Virginia Blare.
Mr. Blare was a self-employed contractor.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Blare was a member of the Charity Baptist Church in Oakdale.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Dorsey Funeral Home, Shinnston, will be handling the arrangements.

Hancel D. Carr

BELINGTON -- Hancel Darrell Carr, 63, of State Route 92 North, Belington, formerly of Montrose, died at 7:10 a.m. Friday, July 23, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Dry Fork, Tucker County, a son of the late Wayne K. and Inva Pitzer Carr.
His wife, the former Ruth Virginia Canfield, whom he married on Aug. 27, 1955, survives.
Also surviving are one son, David Darrell Carr, Montrose; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Margareta Mae) Cross, Montrose, and Mrs. Billy (Brenda Sue) Starks, Faber, Va.; six brothers, Elmer Carr and Lindsey Carr, both of Kerns, Troy Carr, Hendricks, Ernie Carr, Parsons, Roger Carr, Hambleton, and Charlie Carr, Florida; two half-sisters, Emma Simmons, Hambleton, and Lydia Hall, Georgia; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, and one great-grandson.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ezra Carr; two half-sisters, July White and Nora Carr, and two half-brothers, John Carr and Lorenzie Carr.
Mr. Carr was a retired equipment operator for the Tygart Valley District of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation and Stabilization Service.

Ellen L. Childers

Ellen Lorraine Childers, 67, of Route 3, Weston, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, in United Hospital Center following a brief illness.
She was born April 24, 1932, in Stonewood, a daughter of the late Jennings Brian and Emma Marie Paugh.
Her husband, Robert E. Childers, preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Mike Childers, Buckhannon, and Mark Childers, Weston; six grandchildren, April Heintz, Hobart, Ind., Nikki Hamrick, Alderson, Bobbi Jo Neff, Jacksonville, N.C., Rebecca Childers and Christina Smith, both of Luray, Va., and Michael Childers, Boise, Idaho, and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Carr; two brothers, and two sisters.
Mrs. Childers was a member of the Barnes Memorial Baptist Church ,where she served as organist for several years.
Friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home, 443 W. Pike St., Clarksburg, from 2-6 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

William F. Fulton

BELINGTON -- William Forrest "Bill" Fulton, 78, of 114 Lee St., Belington, died at 4:43 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 1999, in Ruby Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Norton, Randolph County, a son of the late Fred and Flossie Tusing Fulton.
His wife, the former Lorraine Hymes, whom he married on Jan. 5, 1946, survives.
Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, June and Larry Johnson, Akron, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Karen Fulton, Springfield, Ohio; six grandchildren, Nicole Zickefoose and Corey Zickefoose, both of Southington, Ohio, John Melnick II and Angel Melnick, both of Cortland, Ohio, and Jill Diamond and David Diamond, both of Stoneycreek, N.Y., and two great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two half-brothers.
Mr. Fulton enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1939 and served as a staff sergeant with Company K, 128th Infantry. He was twice wounded on the island of Luzon, receiving two Purple Hearts with Oak Leaf Clusters and a Bronze Star. He was discharged in September 1945.
Following discharge from the Army, he worked briefly in West Virginia coal mines. He then moved to Ohio, where he was employed first at the Ravenna Arsenal and for eight years by Ohio Edison. He then moved to Packard Electric in Warren, Ohio, where he retired in 1983 following 25 years of service.
Upon retirement in 1983, Mr. Fulton returned to Belington and immediately became affiliated with the Belington Emergency Squad as an ambulance driver. In 1985, at the age of 64, he received certification as an emergency medical technician. Until his last illness, he served the squad as an aide.
Mr. Fulton was a member of I.U.E. Local 717, a member of the United Mine Workers of America, a 20-year member of the Bazzetta (Ohio) Volunteer Fire Department, an honorary member of the Belington Volunteer Fire Department, a life member of Laurel Mountain Post No. 410 ? VFW, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a life member of the DAV ? West Virginia Chapter No. 14, a member of the American Legion ? Department of West Virginia, and a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Junior.

Rufus H. McPherson

FLATWOODS -- Rufus H. McPherson, 74, of Burnsville, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 29, 1924, in Burnsville, a son of the late Frank Democrat and Susie Wines McPherson.
His wife, Betty J. Fincham McPherson, whom he married on April 7, 1946, survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Twila) Clark, Point Pleasant, and Mrs. Alan (Brenda) Conley, Burnsville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Franklin H. (Butch) and Debbie McPherson, and Roger L. and Linda McPherson, all of Burnsville, and Jerry L. and Candice McPherson, Richmond Dale, Ohio; one brother, Russell E. McPherson, Burnsville; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and William.
Mr. McPherson was retired from Penn Line Service Inc. as a supervisor with 36 years of service.

Edna M. Morrison

BUCKHANNON -- Edna M. Morrison, 91, of Route 2, French Creek, died Friday, July 23, 1999, in the Holbrook Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 7, 1907, in Crawford, Lewis County, a daughter of the late James Lot and Mary Elizabeth Simmons Heavner.
Her husband, Claude Cecil Morrison, preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1971.
Surviving are five sons, Edward "Pete" Morrison, Gretna, La., John F. Morrison, Clarksburg, Joseph II Morrison, James L. Morrison and Charles M. Morrison, all of French Creek; two daughters, Freta M. Roby, Frenchton, and Leona Pelascini, Ureka, Calif.; 31 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Eugene (Bob) Morrison; one daughter, Winona Reuss; four brothers, and three sisters.
Mrs. Morrison was a member of the Rock Cave Baptist Church.
She was a born-again Christian and a homemaker.

Ronald B. Schooley

GRAFTON -- Ronald B. Schooley, 49, of 850 W. Main St., Grafton Manor, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, in United Hospital Center.
He was born Dec. 7, 1949, in Grafton, a son of Virginia Dorothy Johnson Schooley, West Main Street, Grafton, and the late Charles E. Schooley.
Surviving are two brothers, Donald M. Schooley, his twin, Boothsville, and Mic Schooley, Grafton; one sister, Lora L. Steadman, Grafton, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Mr. Schooley was a veteran of the U.S. Army as a S.P.C. 4 during the Vietnam era.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial City Post No. 3081, and the American Legion ? Taylor County Post No. 12.
Mr. Schooley had been employed at the St. Regis Paper Co. in Grafton for 12 years and was last employed as a bartender for the American Legion ? Taylor County Post No. 12.
He was Baptist.

Warren J. Tenney

PENNSBORO -- Warren Junior Tenney, 83, of St. Clara Community, Doddridge County, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born April 18, 1916, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Hugh Lloyd and Sallie Dearing Tenney.
His wife of 24 years, Wilda Summers Powell Tenney, survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Nancy Carol Springer, Martinsville, Va., Linda Tenney, Nitro, Peggy Jo Singleton, Sardis, Patty Jean Hart, Zebulon, N.C., and Mary Ann Shaver, New Milton; three sons, Hugh Warren Tenney, Nashville, Tenn., George Luther Powell, Stonewood, and James Russell Powell, Clarksburg, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Tenney was retired from the Washington Manufacturing Company of Nashville as a shipping supervisor for the DEE CEE brand of clothing.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the St. Johannes Lutheran Church at St. Clara.
