Lois I. Correll

Lois I. Correll, 85, of Locust Avenue, Clarksburg, died Saturday, July 25, 1998, at United Hospital Center.

She was born Aug. 22, 1912, in Oakmont, Pa., a daughter of the late James and Libby Thomas Mitchell.

Her husband, John C. Correll, preceded her in death in 1974.

Surviving are four sons, Frank and wife Della Correll and James and wife Pam Correll, all of Clarksburg, Charles and wife Chris Correll, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Raymond and wife Fe Correll, Manila, Philippines; three daughters, Lois Jean Correll and Nancy Whaley, both of Clarksburg, and Mrs. John (Dorothy) Wacowski, Mount Clare; one sister, Mrs. Ernest (Helen) Coffroth, Verona, Pa.; one brother, William Mitchell, Sarver, Pa.; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers, one sister and one granddaughter, Diane.

Mrs. Correll was a homemaker.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Davis Funeral Home, Clarksburg chapel, 443 W. Pike St. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Julia Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery.

Fay A. Darnold

CAIRO -- Fay A. Darnold, 96, of Cairo, died Saturday, July 25, 1998, at Parkersburg.

She was born July 4, 1902, in Highland, Ritchie County, a daughter of the late William James and Mattie Shields Alkire.

Her husband, Gayford H. Darnold, preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Danny Darnold, Parkersburg, and Bill Darnold, Ravenswood, Silverton community; one daughter, Lois Cunningham, Cairo; five grandsons, Mark Darnold, Portland, Ore., Brent Darnold, Washington, Ryan Darnold, Parkersburg, Wayne Darnold and Butch Cunningham, both of Cario; one granddaughter, Barbara Darnold Johnson, Parkersburg; and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two grandsons.

Mrs. Darnold was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion of Cairo and the Hughes River Presbyterian Church, Cairo.

James M. Eakle

James Michael "Jamie" Eakle, 33, of Station C, Clarksburg, died Friday, July 24, 1998, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 26, 1965, in Kansas City, Miss., a son of Patricia Wine Eakle, Naples, Fla., and the late Rex J. Eakle.

Surviving are his long time campanion, Angel Johnson, Clarksburg; one son, Shain Michael Johnson, at home; two brothers, Larry Eakle and Thomas Eakle, both of Clarksburg; three sisters, Connie Skinner, Alma, Donetta Eakle, Clarksburg, and Traci Hartman, Naples; four nieces, Mendi, Bonni, Heather and Brittni; four nephews, Thomas, Mark, Corey and Rex; aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Eakle, Clarksburg, Mike and Margot Eakle, Lost Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Wine, Boiling Springs, N.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Selman, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and many special friends.

He was also preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Mr. Eakle was a construction worker, most recently working for Marks Construction.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Davis Funeral Home, Clarksburg chapel, 443 W. Pike St. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ray Satterfield officiating. Interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery.

William F. Exline

BUCKHANNON -- William F. Exline, 68, of 18 Legget Addition, died Sunday, July 26, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born Sept. 28, 1929, in Gilmore County, a son of the late John Wesley Exline and Elma Spore Exline.

Surviving are three sisters, Martha Hiney, Linn, Cora Linger, Philippi, and Anna Robinson, Buckhannon; one brother, Howard Eugene Exline, Elamore; one half brother, Grant Exline, Clarksburg; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Eddie Exline.

Mr. Exline was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church.

Birdsell J. Knight

BELINGTON -- Birdsell Jennings Knight, 89, a resident of 100 Serpell Ave., died at 6:44 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 1998, at Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins. He had been in failing health but death was sudden and unexpected.

He was born Aug. 9, 1908, in Belington, a son of the late Eldoris Lucas and Icie Talbott Knight.

In 1927, he was married to the former Ethel Genevive Streets, who preceded him in death on Aug. 6, 1983.

Surviving are six sons, Gerald Knight, Delaware, Kester Knight, Buckhannon, Jimmie Knight, Belington, Lee Roy Knight, Cuyhoga Falls, Ohio, Henry Knight, Stow, Ohio, and Stanley Knight, Carson City, Nev.; two daughters, Patty Lou Knight Phillips, Belington, and Peggy Ann Knight, Stow; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Knight, Tallmadge, Ohio; and his companion, Lillian Hewitt, Belington.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one grandchild.

Mr. Knight attended the schools of Barbour County and the West Virginia University Miners School of Safety, where he obtained his miners foreman certificate.

He was a retired coal miner, carpenter by trade and Methodist.

James B. Oyler

SISTERSVILLE -- James B. Oyler, 77, of Friendly, died Saturday, July 25, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born Sept. 17, 1920, in Richwood, a son of the late Bowman Oyler and Viola Hodges Oyler.

His wife, Eva Nell Richardson Oyler, preceded him in death in 1986.

Surviving are two sons, Stephen J. Oyler, Friendly, and Richard L. Oyler, West Union; one daughter, Debra Jean Eddy, St. Marys; two brothers, Max Oyler, Huntington, and Thomas Oyler, Dunbar; one sister, Jean Lightner, Sarasota, Fla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Glen Oyler and one sister, Ruth Griffey.

Mr. Oyler was a retired construction pipefitter for David McKee Co., Marietta, Ohio. He was a World War II Army veteran having received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He was a member of the Phoenix Lodge No. 73, AF&AM, Sistersville, Nemesis Temple, Parkersburg, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6327, Sistersville, Pipefitters Local 168, Marietta, and International Order of Odd Fellows, Friendly.

Lytle R. Scott

BELINGTON -- Lytle Raymond Scott, 84, of Route 1, Philippi, formerly of Belington, died Sunday, July 26, 1998, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born May 21, 1914, in Randolph County, a son of the late Lewell and Aza Lindsey Scott.

His wife, Iole E. Elmore Scott, preceded him in death in April 1971.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Robert (Delores) Allen, Zeeland, Mich., and Mrs. William T. (Deeanna Kay) Hovey, with whom he made his home; one sister, Jessie Mace, Petersburg; and three grandchildren, Jason Scott Allen, Elizabeth Ann Allen and Vanessa Kay Allen.

He was also preceded in death by one infant son and one sister, Anna Belle Orr.

Mr. Scott was a welder and tipple mechanic for Pittston Mining's Compass Coal Company and retired from their Badger mine at Philippi. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of United Mine Workers Local 1938 and was a former member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, Belington. He attended Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.

Dora E. Taylor

PENNSBORO -- Dora E. Taylor, 91, of Charleston, formerly of Pennsboro, died Saturday, July 25, 1998, at Heartland of Charleston.

She was born March 13, 1907, in Pennsboro, a daughter of the late Francis Chromer and Maggie V. Collins.

Her husband, Floyd H. Taylor Sr., preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Floyd H. Taylor Jr.; four grandchildren, Janice Kruger, Simsbury, Conn., Joel E. Taylor, Goodrich, Mo., Joyce Spencer, Huntsville, Ala., and Jeffery A. Taylor, Huntington; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Harry and Bryson Garner and two sisters, Lora Garner and Elsie Collins.

Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and had been employed in the Foster Grandparent program at the Ellenboro Grade School and the former Colin Anderson Center of St. Marys.

She was a member of the Mountain Grange, the Pennsboro Senior Citizens, Order of the Eastern Star of Pennsboro and the First United Methodist Church of Pennsboro.

Anna M. Wagoner

JANE LEW -- Anna Mae Johns Wagoner, 65, of McWhorter, died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday, July 26, 1998, at her home.

She was born Nov. 26, 1932, in Burton, a daughter of the late James Ross and Margaret Virginia Ashcraft Johns.

On Oct. 25, 1950, she married Oley Kemper Wagoner, who survives.

Also survivng are two daughters, Mrs. John (Jan Lynn) Forquer Jr., Sardis, and Mrs. Gregory (Trisha Ann) Hurd, Jane Lew; one son, Jeffry Scott Wagoner, Good Hope; 10 grandchildren, Kristain, Joshua, Elijah and Jeremy "Boomer" Wagoner, Zachariah, Courtney and Jessica Forquer, Casey, Eathan and Emily Hurd.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Ann Wagoner and one son, James Kemper Wagoner.

Mrs. Wagoner was a member of Lost Creek Woman's Club, a former member of McWhorter United Methodist Church and attended Jane Lew First United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and a 1950 graduate of Weston High School.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Morris Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronald C. Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Broad Run Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Peoples Hospice, Seek a Miracle Foundation or First United Methodist Church Elevator Fund.
