Annie M. Daniel

Annie M. Daniel, 83, of Comfort Court, Clarksburg, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, following an extended illness.

She was born Aug. 10, 1915, in Hainesville, Ala., a daughter of the late Feagin and Eva Lee Green Barnett.

Her husband, Edmond "Zache" Daniel, whom she married Dec. 2, 1934, preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1978.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. James (Eva) Hall, South Ozone Park, N.Y., Mrs. Richard (Mary) Singleton and Marva Daniel, both of Clarksburg, Catherine D. Brooks, Alexandria, Va.; one son, Charles P. Daniel and his wife, Elise, Boston, Mass.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Barnett, Stonewood, and James Barnett, Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Alexander (Theresa) Cox, Clarksburg, and Augustine Geoghagen, Englewood, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Anthony Daniel; two sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Daniel was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Davis Funeral Home, Clarksburg Chapel, 443 W. Pike St. in Clarksburg. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church where the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. The Rev. David Kates will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery.

Betty J. Dorsey

DIXIE -- Betty J. Higginbotham Dorsey, 69, of Dixie, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Montgomery General Hospital following a brief illness.

Her husband, Leonard Dorsey, survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Gerry Barnhart, Lumberport; one son, Jimmy Dorsey, Summersville; two sisters, Mildred Fleming, Pax and Flossie Crislip, Sutton; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, Timmy Dorsey.

Mrs. Dorsey was formerly of Lumberport.

Louie P. Ellis

Louie P. Ellis, 82, of East Main Street, Clarksburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at his residence.

He was born July 11, 1916, at Willard, a son of the late Antonio G. and Maria Teresa Guido Ellis.

His first wife, Geraldine McQuain Ellis, preceded him in death. His second wife, Nancy Lea Ellis, survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mary Ellen Garrett, Columbus, Ohio, Virginia Ann Jones, Philippi, and Louis Wolfe, Georgia; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and one brother, Sam Ellis, Clarksburg.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Joseph Anthony Ellis, and three brothers, Frank, John, and Joe and one sister, Flora Scalise.

Mr. Ellis was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was one of the Ellis brothers famous as a merchant, restauranteur and theatre owner.

He began his career as a glassworker at Pittsburgh Plate Glass for 13 years. He then became part owner of the Strand Billards and Restaurant for five years.

He started in the theatre business quite by accident. He was a 16mm camera fan and used to have free shows for the neighbors in a field at Norwood Park. Then he staged his shows as a benefit for the fire department. He furthered his ambitions with the opening of the Ellis Drive-In Theatre and Brothers Four Supper Club. In his retirement years, Louie and his wife Nancy were owners of Ellis Productions, a movie related hobby.

Friends will be received from 2-9 p.m. today at Bartolo Funeral Home, 515 W. Pike St. in Clarksburg. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Cesidio Federico as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery. A Scriptural Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Aubrey E. Harris

Aubrey E. "Bill" Harris, 85, of James Street, Bridgeport, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, in United Hospital Center following a brief illness.

He was born June 5, 1913, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Lee and Jane Rucker Harris.

His wife, Florence E. Gill Harris, whom he married July 25, 1937, survives.

Also surviving are five nephews, Edward Jenkins, Jim Harris and Gary Harris, all of Clarksburg, Robert Jenkins, Florida, Sonny Jenkins, California, and two nieces, Janice Harris, Clarksburg, and Helen Petrigas, California.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Annis Jean Harris; three brothers, Leon Harris, David Harris and Charles Harris; one sister, Genevieve Jenkins, and three nephews, Larry Harris, Richard Jenkins and Harry Jenkins.

Mr. Harris was a member of Clarksburg Baptist Church and a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a past member of the Sunny Croft Country Club, a member of Clarksburg Lodge 482, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and Clarksburg Lodge 52, Loyal Order of the Moose.

Mr. Harris retired from City Lines of Harrison County as a bus driver with 40 years of service.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Davis Funeral Home, Clarksburg Chapel, 443 W. Pike St. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kurt Busiek officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to People's Hospice, P.O. Box 1680, Clarksburg, W.Va., 26302-1680.

Eula G. Holt

SHINNSTON -- Eula G. Holt, 93, of Middle Run, Wallace, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Meadowview Manor, Bridgeport.

She was born Feb. 22, 1905, at Little Rock Camp, a daughter of the late David and Irene Boggess Stire.

Her husband, John Thomas Holt, preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1959.

Surviving are two sons, Adrie Holt, Wallace, and John Holt, Gregory's Run; one daughter, Estal Watson, Bridgeport; one brother, Aggie Stire, Buffalo, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Deloris Bennett; two infant children, Birgus and Sylvia Holt; two grandsons and one great-grandson; five sisters and one brother.

Mrs. Holt was a lifelong member of the Wallace Community and was Baptist.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Harmer Funeral Home in Shinnston. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Burnside officiating. Interment will follow at the McIntyre Fork Cemetery.

Alpha H. Knight

PENNSBORO -- Alpha H. Knight, 87, of Route 1, Beason community, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born Aug. 13, 1911, at Flemington, a son of John O. and Cora May Ramsey Knight.

Surviving are one sister, Arlene Zuk, Baltimore, Ohio, and his caregivers, Bill and Cindy Dodd, Beason.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Bayard and Karl Knight, and one sister, Marie Riddle.

Mr. Knight was retired from the Baltimore & Ohio Railway as a clerk and a farmer.

He graduated from the former Flemington High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II with service in Normandy and Central Europe.

Alva "Doc" Suder

BUCKHANNON -- Alva Monzel "Doc" Suder, 102, of Route 4, Box 573, Swamp Run, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at his residence.

He was born May 24, 1896, in Mt. Nebo, a son of the late John Thomas Lee Suder and Ellen B. Zirkle Suder.

His first wife, Ethel Edna Williams Suder, whom he married in 1920, preceded him in death in 1929. His second wife, Virginia Ruth Williams Suder, whom he married in 1931, preceded him in death in 1991.

Surviving are five daughters, Wilda Morrison and Linda Murphy, both of Buckhannon, Myrtle Marteney, Minerva, Ohio, Vera Toot, Carrollton, Ohio, and Ruth White, Grafton; three sons, Alva Suder Jr., Minerva, Ohio, Eugene Suder and Robert Suder, both of Buckhannon; 30 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Bert Suder, Rivesville, and one daughter-in-law, Anna Lea Suder, Cheltenham, Md.

He was also preceded in death by one son Carral Suder; one grandson, Gilbert Keith Marteney; five sisters, Mae Campbell, Maude Nester, Ruth Shumaker, Anna Regester and Mertie Suder, and four brothers, Elza Suder, Lida Suder, John Suder and Archie Suder.

Mr. Suder was a farmer, sawyer, and blacksmith.
