Closing Procedure
Due to Weather

With wintry weather conditions arriving earlier than anticipated, Harrison County Schools reminds students and parents of procedures when school has to be delayed, canceled, or closed early.

Every attempt will be made to notify the media by 6 a.m. whether schools have a one or two hour delay or are closed. If no announcement is forthcoming, school is in session and students should report at the usual time. On days that classes are canceled, all extra-curricular and community activities at the schools are also canceled.

Occasional early dismissal may occur if road conditions worsen during the day. In this situation, radio and television stations will announce the closing time and buses will run accordingly. When parents of younger children cannot be at home for early dismissal, previous arrangements for child care should be in place.

So they do not totally miss out when school is canceled, students will have winter curriculum assignments to compete for each class.
