Obituaries for Saturday, December 7, 2002

Charlotte Ann Stilwell Atha

GRAFTON -- Charlotte Ann Stilwell Atha, age 66, of Forest Drive, Bridgeport, WV, was born on July 7, 1936, in Grafton, WV, and went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 4, 2002, after suffering from the complications of Primary Pulmonary Hypertension. She was the daughter of the late John Merrill and the late Minnie Cole Stilwell.

Charlotte Atha graduated from Grafton High School (Grafton, WV) with the class of 1954. She also graduated from Fairmont State College (Fairmont, WV) in 1958. She was a teacher at Fairview High School (Fairview, WV). She taught piano lessons for many years and served as a church organist in several churches in Maryland and West Virginia. Many of her friends will remember how she ministered with her personal notes and cards for special occasions.

Charlotte Atha is survived by her husband of 43 years, James William Atha Sr. of Bridgeport, WV; children, John Charles and Rhonda Atha of Woodbine, MD, James William II and Charlita Atha of Jane Lew, WV, Brian Stilwell and Stephanie Atha of Baltimore, MD, and Susan Louise Atha of Arizona. She is also survived by the following seven grandchildren: Tristan Thomas Atha, Evaleen Beth Atha, Mason James Atha, Caleb James Atha, Jason Ridgley, Lindsay Ridgley and Kari Ridgley. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Louise and Gareld Grimes of Chesterfield, VA. She had several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Charlotte Atha was a member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church (Bridgeport, WV), a member of United Methodist Women, a former member of the church choir and a substitute organist. She was an Auxiliary member of Taylor County Camp of Gideons International.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home on Route 50 west of Grafton, WV, on Sunday, December 8, 2002, between 4 and 9 p.m. Visitation will also be prior to the funeral service to be held on Monday, December 9, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, WV. Burial will be in the Bridgeport Cemetery following the funeral service. Rev. Steven Dorsey and Dr. Robert C. Cole will officiate. Mrs. Atha will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2002, at Bridgeport United Methodist Church.

Bonnie I. Ball

CLARKSBURG -- Bonnie I. Ball, 83, of Mount Clare, died December 5, 2002, at Heartland Nursing Home following an extended illness.

She was born in Jenkins, Kentucky, November 4, 1919, daughter of James Mullins and Minnie E. Boggs.

Mrs. Ball was a homemaker and was Protestant by faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman E. Ball, who died January 10, 1999.

Surviving are her children: Richard C. Ball of Quiet Dell, and James D. Ball and wife Kathy of Clarksburg; surviving brothers: Douglas Mullins of Maryland, Robert Mullins of Washington Street, and Otis Mullins of Virginia; surviving sisters are Mary Gellios of Virginia, Joann Singer of Florida, Delsie Moneypenny of Weston, Phyllis Mullins of Texas, and Darlene White of Tennessee.

Mrs. Ball was preceded in death by brothers Clarence and James Mullins.

Family and friends may call at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Drive, Rt. 98, Clarksburg, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where funeral services will be held Monday, December 9, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Bridgeport Cemetery.

Kaylie Marie Burkhammer

WESTON -- Kaylie Marie Burkhammer, infant daughter of Beth Ann Burkhammer of Camden, WV, died at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2002, in West Virginia University's Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

She was born on December 4, 2002, in Morgantown, WV.

Survivors include maternal grandparents, Darrell E. Burkhammer and Kathy M. Burkhammer, Camden, WV; maternal great-grandparents, Lona Henry, Roanoke, WV, Darrell F. Burkhammer, Sand Run, Waldeck, WV, and Betty J. Burkhammer, Sand Run, Waldeck, WV; three aunts, Christy Werner, Sand Run, Waldeck, WV, Stacey Craig, Gee Lick, Weston, WV, and Sherry Burkhammer, Camden, WV; one great-great- grandmother, Freda Burkhammer, Keiths Fork, Weston, WV; several great aunts and uncles; and several cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2002, from Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew, WV with Reverend Rick Farmer officiating. Interment will follow the services in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Doris June Craig Feahr

CLARKSBURG -- Doris June Craig Feahr, 71, of Alma, died December 5, 2002, at Wetzel County Hospital.

She was born in Clarksburg, December 13, 1930, daughter of Jesse James Craig and Freda Elizabeth Davis Craig.

Mrs. Feahr was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Feahr on November 1, 1999.

Surviving is one daughter, Tawny Elder of Alma; one brother, Shelva Craig of Ohio; two sisters, Wilma Garcia of Anmoore and Ethel Craig of Ohio; two grandchildren, Staci Renee and husband Donnie Hall of Ohio, Jason Craig Elder and fiancé Rosalie Keller of Alma, who also assisted Tawny with Doris's care; two great grandchildren, Lindsey Renee Sowders and Jocelyn Elder, both of Ohio.

Mrs. Feahr was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Lynch and Maxine Atwood and one brother, Jesse James Craig, Jr.

Family and friends may call at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Drive, Rt. 98, Clarksburg, Saturday from 2-6 p.m. and Sunday from 2-6 p.m., where funeral services will be held Monday, December 9 at 2 p.m. Following the funeral service, Mrs. Feahr will be cremated. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, at a time to be announced.

N. Enid McCullough

CHESTER -- N. Enid McCullough, 93, of RD 2, Chester, WV, died peacefully at home on Friday, December 6, 2002.

A daughter of the late Emil and Willa Weekley, she was born September 27, 1909, in Tyler County, WV.

Mrs. McCullough had worked as a clerk at the former Fineman's department store in Chester and earlier had taught school in Tyler County. She was a member of the Chester First Presbyterian Church where she was active in many activities including the Church sewing group. She attended Marshall University following graduation from Middlebourne High School in Tyler County.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Howard D. McCullough in 1992, a brother, Norman O. Weekley and a sister, Sigma Arylene Moore.

A son, Charles "Al" McCullough and his wife Freda May of Chester, with whom she resided, survive her. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Sam McCullough of Chester and Kelly Gittings and her husband Scott of New Manchester; a great grandson, Jarrett Gittings; three step great-grandchildren, Aurlee, Joseph and Josh Gittings. In addition there are seven foster grandchildren, Betty Pipes, Robert Dean, Mary Summers, Susie Ludec, Roger Hamilton, Gene Brown and Cecil Miller.

Pastor Jerry Rose will conduct services on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Interment will be in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home any time Sunday where the family will be present from noon-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at the Chester First Presbyterian Church.

George Milton Vincent

SHINNSTON -- George Milton Vincent, 79, of Smithfield, died December 5, 2002, at the Arbors of Fairmont following a brief illness.

Mr. Vincent was born at Lumberport, July 14, 1923, the son of the late Lock Dale Vincent and Emma Mae Fittro Vincent.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Agnes Balog Vincent, on August 10, 1995.

Mr. Vincent is survived by two sons, Thomas K. Cutlip of Fairmont and Harvey B. Cutlip Jr. and wife, Jeannie, Parsonburg, Md.; two daughters, Donna L. Hammond and husband, Nelson, Laurel, DE. and Martha Stegmaier and husband, John, Vienna, VA; one brother, Woodrow J. Vincent of Quantico, MD; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ruth Howard.

He was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Shirley Vetra, Pearl White, Hilda Vincent, Thelma Vincent and Jeannette DeShield.

Mr. Vincent was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was employed as a motorman and fire boss at Compass Coal Co. 2 at Dola, was a member of the UMWA and First Baptist Church in Wallace and also attended Faith Tabernacle in Grafton.

Family and friends will be received at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street, Shinnston from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2002, where services will be held at 2 p.m. with the Reverend W.F. Boylen officiating.

Interment will be held in the Brown I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
