BELMONT, N.C. -- Salem International's losing streak reached six games on Saturday, as the Tigers fell to Belmont Abbey, 77-76.
The Tigers (2-7) last won on Nov. 21. On Saturday, they lost despite 50 percent shooting (26-of-52) and despite 20-point games from Jason Dunham and Jon Wilburn. SIU also made all five 3-point attempts in the second half but still blew a 28-25 halftime lead.
Shaun McKie also reached double figures with 11 points, but it came on 2-of-8 shooting. Belmont Abbey's Damien Humphrey posted a double-double with 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting and 13 rebounds.
The last losing season was in 1991-92, when SIU was 9-17.
