BRIDGEPORT -- Two men were hospitalized Tuesday following an altercation late Monday in Bridgeport, police said. A warrant alleging attempted murder has been obtained against one, police said.
Michael Miller was listed in fair condition Tuesday afternoon at United Hospital Center. Miller will face charges of attempted murder and destruction of property when he is released from the hospital, Bridgeport Detective Mike Lemley said. Miller has been arrested and is under police guard at UHC, Lemley said.
Darren Lannan was flown to Ruby Memorial in Morgantown, where he was listed in good condition Tuesday.
Miller allegedly called his estranged wife and learned that a male friend, Lannan, was at her apartment on Broadway Avenue, Lemley said.
"Miller told her he was coming over to remove Lannan from the residence. Miller was seen outside her house. Lannan went outside, and the two began fighting," Lemley said.
Lannan took a pipe from Miller and hit him several times in the head, Lemley said. Lannan started back up the steps to the apartment when Miller got into his Dodge Durango and drove into the steps while Lannan was still on them, Lemley said.
"Witnesses stated he hit the steps at least three times and fled the scene," Lemley said.
Miller is expected to be released this morning, when the warrants will be served and he will be arraigned in Harrison County Magistrate Court, Bridgeport police said.
Investigating officers on the scene were Lt. Carl Springer, Patrolman 1st Class Doug Betler and Detective Randy Hartley.
