CLARKSBURG -- An Enterprise man charged with the murder of his brother and his brother's roommate has been indicted by the May term of the Harrison County grand jury.
Melvin Cochran, 34, was indicted on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of felony murder and one count of grand larceny.
Cochran was indicted in connection with the deaths of Rebecca Taylor, 50, and Mark Cochran, 43, her roommate and Melvin Cochran's brother. The two lived on Saltwell Road in Harrison County.
Both Taylor and Mark Cochran appeared to have the same types of blunt force injuries, State Police have said.
They were found New Year's Eve at Taylor's home, with Taylor said to be dead at the scene and Mark Cochran dying the next day.
Melvin Cochran was later arrested without incident at a department store in Newton Falls, Ohio, and brought back to West Virginia.
Prosecutor Joe Shaffer has said it appears a hammer was used in the slayings. A medical examiner on the scene said it was "the most brutal crime scene he'd seen in all his years," Shaffer has said.
