PHILIPPI -- Ruth V. Fridley, age 81, a resident of Bailey, North Carolina, and a former resident of Jessup, Maryland, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in the Wilson Medical Center, Wilson, North Carolina. She was born April 3, 1923, in Randolph County, a daughter of the late Arnold and Pearl (Cutright) Arbogast. She was united in marriage to Perry L. Fridley, who preceded her in death February 26, 1986.
Surviving are three daughters, Sherry Carlton, Elm City, North Carolina, Joyce Fridley, Elm City, North Carolina, Barbara and husband Larry Parrish, Black Creek, North Carolina; two sons, Perry L. Jr. and wife Donna Fridley, King George, Virginia, Stephen M. Fridley, Bailey, North Carolina; two sisters, Sandra Sykes, Florida, Ann Augustinelli, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Bill Arbogast, Mill Creek, WV, Terry Arbogast, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Skidmore, and two brothers, Neil Arbogast and Paul Arbogast.
She was a homemaker.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut Street, Philippi, after 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.

PHILIPPI -- Harold S. Henderson, age 80, a resident of Route 1, Philippi, WV, went home to be with the Lord at 12:47 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, in the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. He was born January 20, 1924, at Fairfield, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Paul and Marie (Caldwell) Henderson.
His devoted wife of 59 years, the former Elizabeth Rabarich, whom he married December 21, 1946, survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and husband William Streets, Wellington Heights Addition, Philippi, WV; one sister and brother-in-law, Zella and husband Leroy Shetler, New Florence, Pennsylvania; one beloved granddaughter, Amy Mortensen, Wellington Heights Addition, Philippi, WV.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian Taylor.
He retired in 1985 from Bethlehem Mine at Johnstown, Pennsylvania, as a buggy operator and did various other jobs.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy. He was a charter member of the World War II Memorial, a member of VFW Post No. 3663 of Buckhannon and a member of the United Mine Workers.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his pets.
He was a Lutheran by faith.
Mr. Henderson's request for no visitation will be honored. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Streets officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by VFW Post No. 3663 and American Legion Post No. 44. SHINNSTON -- Dale "Pete" Martin Jr., 65, of Shinnston, passed away June 16, 2004, in Shinnston. He was born May 23, 1939, in Mannington, a son of the late Arch L. and Opal M. Martin.
Mr. Martin is survived by his companion, Pauline Davis of Shinnston.
He is also survived by one son, Ronnie Davis of Shinnston; two nephews, Roger Lee Martin and Robert Thomas Martin, both of Fairmont; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Okey T. Martin and Ernest William Martin; one sister, Imogene Marie Owens.
Mr. Martin was a coal miner and had worked for Salerno Brothers. He was a member of the Welcome Baptist Church in Fairmont.
Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street, Shinnston, from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, with Reverend Paul Mitchell officiating. At his request, Mr. Martin will be cremated.

SHINNSTON -- Carl Maxwell, 70, of Bennett's Run, Lumberport, died at 6 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2004, at the United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, following an extended illness.
He was born on Sept. 11, 1933, in Adamston, a son of the late Walter Gilbert "Gibb" and Kathryn Coloric Maxwell.
Mr. Maxwell is survived by his wife of 50 years, Esther Belle Baker Maxwell.
He is also survived by two sons, Carl Maxwell and his wife Dorothy of Moyock, NC, and David Maxwell and his wife Martha of Bennett's Run, Lumberport; three daughters, Carolyn Crosby and her husband James of Dola, Susan Starkey and her husband John of Bennett's Run, Lumberport, and Joyce Swiger and her husband Lyle "Eddie," also of Bennett's Run, Lumberport; nine grandchildren, Mark Maxwell, Justin Bishop, Andrea Maxwell, Sean Crosby, Alison Crosby, Melissa Starkey, John Eric Starkey, Bryan Swiger and Karah Swiger; and one brother-in-law, John D. Seal of Salem.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Maxwell was preceded in death by one infant sister, Francis Maxine Maxwell, and his sister, Betty Lou Seal.
Mr. Maxwell graduated from Victory High School in 1951 and went on to serve in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from AFG Industries in 1992, where he was a member of the Steel Workers Union Local No. 00518 District 8. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 31 in Shinnston.
He was a loving and very generous father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his cat "Blackie." He also was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Mr. Maxwell was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St., Shinnston, from 3-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Friday. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 19, 2004, at noon with Pastor Darren Powell officiating. Interment will follow at the Lumberport Lions Club Cemetery.
Following the service, friends are invited to a dinner at the old Lumberport Fire Department Building, Main Street, Lumberport.

SHINNSTON -- Roy Junior Moore, 56, of Bradenton, FL, passed away December 25, 2003, in St. Petersburg, Bay Pines VA Hospital. He was born in Bethlehem, WV, the son of the late William H. and Myrtle Marie (Miller) Moore.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 27 years, Judy Moore; two sons, Roy Junior Moore II of Bradenton and Michael Ray Eddy of Tarkio, MO; three daughters, Darlene Elaine Deyo of Bradenton, JoAnn Pommerenke of Bradenton and Lisa Dennison of Bradenton; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Teddy Moore and wife Kathy of Sarasota, FL; five sisters, Wanda Lynn Jones and husband Richard of Gypsy, Mary Moore and husband James of Shinnston, Lois Wright and husband Bobby of Lumberport, Charlotte Ashby and husband Edward of Monongah, and Peggy Hupp and husband Alfred of Salem, OH.
Mr. Moore was a retired roofer with Sutter Roofing Company in Florida. He served in the Marine Corps during Vietnam.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Shinnston, with Reverend Tom Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.

SHINNSTON -- Roberta Ann Nay, 64, of Shinnston died at 2:25 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
She was born July 19, 1939, at Shinnston, a daughter of the late Lawrence R. Henry and Annabelle Starkey Henry Snider.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence A. Nay, who died October 9, 1985.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marsha D. Nay and friend, Lawrence Barker, and his son, Lawrence, Shinnston, and Lesa Hamrick and her husband, Steve, Shinnston; her son, Micheal "Cheech" Nay, Shinnston; five grandchildren, Shawna Baker and her husband Rodney, Tony and Curtis Hamrick, Jeffrey and Chase Blare, all of Shinnston; her lifelong friend, Helen Radabaugh; special friend Wanda Stanley; and many other wonderful friends.
Also preceding her in death was her brother, Dick Henry.
Her favorite pastime was attending her grandchildren's events. She was always present to cheer them on. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, from noon-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Thursday. A funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2004, with Pastor Robert Shingleton officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.

WESTON -- Thomas Edward Parmer, 57, of 324 Broad Street, Weston, died at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston following a brief illness. He was born in Lewis County on March 4, 1947, son of the late Marley S. Parmer and Helen E. (Jordan) Parmer of Weston. On May 9, 1986, he married Carrie (Neace) Parmer, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Nancy Ryder and husband James and Kathy Farnsworth and husband Vernon, both of Weston, and Shirley Mae Call of Jane Lew; and four sons, Thomas Edward Parmer, Jr., Shawn Parmer and David Robison, all of Weston, and Paul Robison of Lynchburg, VA. Mr. Parmer is also survived by three sisters, Diana Cogar and husband Bernard of Weston, Sharon Bleigh and husband Ralph of Navarre, OH, and Tabitha Rohn and husband Richard of Canton, MI; one brother, Luther Parmer and wife Joretta of Weston; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Parmer was an aide at Weston State Hospital of Weston and worked as a glassworker at the West Virginia Glass Specialty Company of Weston.
Friends will be received at the Floyd Funeral Home, 402 Main Avenue, Weston, on Friday, June 18, 2004, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Floyd Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in the Peterson Cemetery of Weston.
