by Mike Nutter

Theresa Melko helped make sure the Bridgeport Indians played up to their No. 5 preseason ranking.

The Indians are off to a 2-0 start with wins over Big 10 Conference's rivals Lewis County and Robert C. Byrd. In the two games, Melko scored 30 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.

For her efforts, Melko was selected as the BB&T Clarksburg Exponent and Telegram Athlete of the Week.

In a seasoning opening 39-22 win over Lewis County, the junior forward scored 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds -- both game highs.

Friday night, Melko followed that with a 19-point, seven rebound game, which included an 8 of 10 shooting performance.

Melko will be honored at the end of the school year at the BB&T Athlete of the Year Banquet.
