Gilmer County jumped to a 28-8 first quarter lead and never looked back against Wirt County to claim a 55-30 victory in girls basketball action Wednesday.

Amy Skinner and Jodi Cunningham led Gilmer with 14 points each, while Miranda Riddle added seven points.

Michelle Watson scored a game-high 16 points for Wirt.

n LEWIS COUNTY 55, Elkins 30: Lewis used big first and third quarters to claim an intercounty victory over Elkins.

Lewis outscored Elkins, 18-7 and 18-8, in the first and third quarters.

Lindsey Casto scord 14 points to lead Lewis, while Jill Garrett and Missy Corothers added 10 points each. Erika Kyer finished with eight points.

Erin Bartlett led Elkins with eight points.
