In 1996, Corridor H was a major issue in the gubernatorial race. Charlotte Pritt, the Democrat nominee, refused to support Corridor H. Pritt had aligned herself with environmentalist opponents.
I heard that Pritt recently showed up at a "meet the candidates" function that was held in the Randolph County town of Dailey. I do not know why anyone who lives in Randolph or any other Corridor H county -- Lewis through Hardy -- would support Pritt's run for secretary of state.
Pritt's failure to support Corridor H was a slap in the face of all who've lost family members in vehicular accidents on U.S. Route 33, W.Va. Route 55 and U.S. Route 219. She now has the nerve to campaign in Randolph County for secretary of state. Do not forget that if Pritt had had her way in '96, there would never be a completed Corridor H, and, consequently, more and more deaths would result because of the old, unsafe, outmoded highways in our region.
And families will continue to be broken up because of the poor economy. A completed Corridor H would improve the economy of our region and our children would not have to go elsewhere to find work. Therefore, Pritt's failure to support Corridor H resulted in broken families and children and grandchildren being separated from their loved ones.
Pritt is wrong for this state. I cannot imagine why anyone would vote for this woman or be associated with her. It is time that we say "no!" to Pritt and tell her to exit out of politics and stay out.
