West Union election is low key

From staff reports

WEST UNION -- Tuesday's city election was a quiet one, with all seven candidates winning in uncontested races.

City Recorder Etta Stadler said voter turnout was low, with not quite 14 percent of those registered coming to the polls.

West Union Mayor Robert Heflin and Stadler were unopposed in their bids for re-election. Heflin had 40 votes and Stadler had 61.

Incumbent city council members Owen "Pete" Mossor, Mary Daugherty and James Heflin Jr. received 47, 56 and 38 votes, respectively.

Two new council members, Charles Langfitt and Lorelei Phillips, were also elected. Langfitt received 49 votes and Phillips, 55.
