MORGANTOWN -- Robert P. Cooper, 81, of Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Grafton and Fairmont, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Apache Junction Health Center.
He was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Sistersville, a son of the late O.D. and Eunice Delaney Cooper.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Gladys Luzadder Cooper.
Also surviving are two daughters, Pamela Loui, Arizona, and Rebecca Coyle, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Michal Kristen Loui, James Aaron Loui and Daniel Joseph Coyle.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Jo Cooper in 1967; one brother, Jim Cooper; and one sister, Belva Nell Kristoff.
Mr. Cooper retired after 50 years as a minister for congregations of the Church of Christ. During his time as a minister he was located with the Blueville Church of Christ in Grafton, the Columbia Street Church of Christ in Fairmont, the Martown Road Church of Christ in Parkersburg and churches in Craigsville, Webster Springs and Buckhannon.
He was a graduate of Freed Hardman College in Nashville, Tenn.
A private graveside service and burial will be held at the Woodsdale Memorial Park in Grafton.
Dering's Funeral Home in Morgantown is in charge of arrangements.
WESTON -- Ruth John Griffin, 86, of 315 Olive St., Weston died at 11:25 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, following an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 19, 1914, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. C.E. John.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Griffin Sr., in 1970.
Surviving are three sons, Joseph E. Griffin Jr., Lake Zurich Ill., James Patrick Griffin, Stafford, Va., and Edward Griffin, Weston; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maude Louise John, Weston.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, J. Hugh John.
Mrs. Griffin was retired from the Citizens Bank of Weston as assistant cashier with 22 years of service.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Victory No. 389, Theresa Snaith Auxiliary of the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital and the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Weston.
Friends may call at the Boyle Funeral Home, 322 Main Ave., Weston, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father James Murphy as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Broad Run Cemetery.
A rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel.

SHINNSTON -- Wallace Franklin "Frank" Hall Jr., 57, of Horner Street, Lumberport, died at 7:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2001, at his residence following a sudden illness.
He was born April 6, 1943, in Worthington, a son of Wallace F. Hall Sr., Lumberport, and the late Jessie L. Sharp Hall.
Surviving is his wife of 37 years, Judy A. DeBerry Hall, whom he married April 21, 1963.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert L. Hall and Larry Franklin Hall, both of Slidell, La.; one grandson, whom he reared, Alfonso "Al" Hall, at home; one granddaughter, Maegan Hall; one brother and sister-in-law, Ellis Eugene "Gene" and Barbara Hall, West Milford; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mrs. Bryan (Virginia) Davis, Cunningham Run, Mrs. Willard (Phyllis) Baker, Shinnston, Mrs. Larry (Elaine) Smith, Buffalo Lake, and Mrs. Craig (Debbie) Carpenter, Bennett's Run; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hall was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U.S. Air Force.
He was employed with Universal Fabricators in Shinnston for six years, owned and operated R&L Appliance Service in Lumberport for many years, was formerly employed with the West Virginia Department of Transportation at Gore, United Mine Workers Construction and Sears, Roebuck & Co. Appliances in Clarksburg and Fairmont.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 573 in Clarksburg, was currently serving as councilman for the town of Lumberport, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and participated in the Snowshoe Mountain First Annual Physically Challenged Hunt on Dec. 7, 2000.
He was a 45-year member of the Lumberport Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the Dorsey Funeral home, Shinnston, after 2 p.m. today, where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Gary L. Martin officiating. Interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown. Full military graveside rites will be rendered.
CLARKSBURG -- Wilma M. Hashman, 82, of Huffman Avenue, Clarksburg, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2001, at her residence following a four-month illness.
She was born in Clarksburg, Nov. 22, 1918, a daughter of the late William and Ida Green Aley.
She married H.G. Hashman, who preceded her in death on March 24, 1972.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Lee and Connie Hashman, Bolt; one daughter, Elaine Junkins, Clarksburg; two grandsons, Ronald Lee Hashman II and Norman Lee Junkins Jr; one great-grandson, Norman Lee "Tre'" Junkins III, and one foster son, H. James Weaver, both of Clarksburg.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Karen Hashman; two brothers, Clyde and Bert Aley, and two sisters, Nellie Ramsey and Jesse Capicola.
Mrs. Hashman was a former employee of G.C. Murphy, a homemaker and attended Calvary United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Drive, Route 98, Clarksburg, from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Olen Robertson will officiate. Interment will be in the Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery.

PHILIPPI -- Ira D. Hovatter, 84, a resident of Route 1, Kasson community, Moatsville, died unexpectedly at 2:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 10, 1916, in Tucker County, a son of the late William Clarence and Rhoda Poling Hovatter.
On Oct. 24, 1946, he married the former Mary Jemima Auvil, who preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 1990.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Ruby Lee and Dewayne Wetzel, Troy, S.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Ira G. and Carol Hovatter, Route 1, Moatsville; three sisters, Elsie Bolyard, Valley Furnace, Iris Wolfe, Grafton, and Pearl Coover, Sidney, Ohio; two brothers, Willis Hovatter, Grafton, and Kenneth Hovatter, Botkins, Ohio; three grandchildren, Burt Wetzel, Heather Marie Hovatter and Gene Allen Hovatter; and one great-granddaughter, Lucy Wetzel.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Murphy, Mildred Bolyard and Mary Dillon and one granddaughter, Melinda King.
Mr. Hovatter retired from the Barbour County Board of Education as a school bus driver. He was also a farmer.
He was a member of Aurora Lodge No. 43, A.F.&A.M., Scottish Rite, 18th degree Valley of Morgantown, Orient of West Virginia. He was a member of the Kasson United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 216 North Walnut St., Philippi, after 2 p.m. today. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Kyle Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Chapel Cemetery with Aurora Lodge No. 43, A.F.&A.M. conducting graveside rites.
GRAFTON -- Allie Kirkpatrick, 95, of Wallace B. Murphy Nursing Home, Grafton, since 1988, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001.
She was born in Barbour County, Feb. 12, 1905, a daughter of the late Archibald Phillips and Mary Elizabeth Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Glenn Kirkpatrick, on March 5, 1977.
Surviving are one son, Dan Kirkpatrick and wife, Fay Kirkpatrick, Grafton; five grandchildren, Jim Kirkpatrick, Grafton, Kim Poling, Grafton, Dave Kirkpatrick, Nashville, Tenn., Rebecca Murphy, Grafton, and Tammi Moore, Grafton; five great-grandchildren, Doug and Amanda Kirkpatrick, Jason Poling, Rachel and Chase Murphy, all of Grafton; one daughter-in-law, Bea Kirkpatrick, Grafton; several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having also been preceded in death by one son, Oscar Beryl Kirkpatrick; three sisters, Pearl, Ollie and Sebthia, and two brothers, Jerome and Emery Phillips.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grafton.

CLARKSBURG -- Samuel Leonette, 67, of Mercer Pike, Meadville, Pa., formerly of Stonewood, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Stonewood, March 27, 1933, a son of the late Joseph Leonette and the late Catherine Iaconis Leonette.
Surviving is his wife, Barbara Lee Kenna Leonette, whom he married Feb. 11, 1956.
Also surviving are one daughter, Connie S. Leonette, Cambridge, Ohio; three sisters, Rose Leonette and Mrs. Steve (Angela) Sestina, both of Stonewood, and Mrs. Pete (Yolanda) Medina, Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Augustine Leonette and three sisters, Helen Pukey, Mary Blake and Virginia McBee.
Mr. Leonette was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church. In 1966 he joined the Nutter Fort Lions Club and transferred his membership to the Vernon Township, Pa., Lions Club in 1975.
He had served as a district governor of District 14F, Lions International in 1982-83. Since 1983, he has served as a board member of Beacon Lodge for the Blind and was regional chairman for Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children.
Mr. Leonette was a graduate of Potomac State College, Keyser, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was supervisor and shift coordinator for PPG Industries, retiring in 1996 after 41 years service.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Stonewood, with the Rev. Father Leonard Blostic, TOR as celebrant. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. A vigil service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
BUCKHANNON -- Eleanor Mae Loudin, 79, of Allman Avenue, Buckhannon, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at her home.
She was born Oct. 16, 1921, in Frenchton, a daughter of the late Arley E. and Bessie Brooks Smith.
In 1938, she married Douglas Rex Loudin, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Richard E. Loudin, Buckhannon; two daughters, Vonda Wilfong, Logan, and Judith Newman, Doylestown, Pa.; six grandchildren, Thomas Newman II, Pompton, N.J., Sean, Ryan, Erin, Colleen and Macie Newman, all of Doylestown, Pa.; one great-grandson, Aiden Newman, Pompton, N.J.; one great-granddaughter, Brianne Newman, Pompton, N.J.; two sisters, ElWanda Woody, Buckhannon, and Glenna Jean Tenney, Sanford, Fla.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Arley Smith Jr. and Robert Lowell Smith, and one sister, Avis Dale Yeager.
Mrs. Loudin was a member of the Alton United Methodist Church, where she had played the piano and organ. She was also active in the Buckhannon Senior Center, where she played music.
Friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Robert Heavner and the Rev. David Hamrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Heavner Cemetery.

FAIRMONT -- Julia McMullen, 76, of Charles Street, Fairmont, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Fairmont General Hospital.
She was born in Albright, June 1, 1924, a daughter of the late Dominick and Philomena Camera Tresino.
Surviving is her husband, Lawrence J. McMullen.
Also surviving are one son, Michael Leo Hoban, Fairmont; three daughters, Rosemarie Whittaker, Smyrna, Ga., Nancy Joyce Younkin, Greensburg, Pa., and Sylvia Jeanne Muto, Hagerstown, Md.; two brother, Nick Tresino, Massillon, Ohio, and Louis R. Tresino, Pine Knoll Shores, N.C.; two sisters, Rose Gallina, San Diego, Calif., and Francis Tresino, Windham, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Danielle June and Katrina Marie Whittaker, Virginia "Gina" Kathleen and Elizabeth Ann Younkin, Mary Anthony Muto, Diana Marie Muto and John Micheal Muto, Christina Michelle Hoban and Maryellen Hoban.
She was preceded in death by her first huband, Leo Robert Hoban, and an infant son, James Robert Hoban.
Mrs. McMullen was a retired bookkeeper for several of the local car dealerships. She was a member of the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church of Fairmont.
She sang in the adult choir for several years and was a member of the St. Ann's and St. Frances Cabrini Guilds and the Altar and Rosary society. She was a member of the Ladies of the Elks, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 294 of Fairmont. She was a 1942 graduate of Kingwood High School.
Friends may call at the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from noon-3 and 7-9 p.m. today and noon-3 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 1 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Fairmont, with the Rev. Leonard Smith as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. A vigil service will be held in the funeral home at 7 p.m. Monday.
KINGWOOD -- Larry M. Patterson, 55, of Kingwood, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
He was born Dec. 25, 1945, in Kingwood, a son of the late John Wesley and Susie Dolly Ludwick Patterson.
Surviving are three brothers, Harry Patterson and Jessie Patterson, both of Kingwood, and Roy Patterson, Texas; two sisters, Ruth Olds, Bridgeport, and Ada Hixenbaugh, Cleveland, Ohio; an uncle, Theodore Ludwick, Kingwood; two nieces, Lacinda Sirbaugh, Kingwood, and Dolly Huler, Lakewood, Ohio; three nephews, Jamie Patterson, Kingwood, and Randy and John Hixenbaugh, both of Cleveland, Ohio.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, John Wesley Patterson Jr.
Mr. Patterson was Methodist.
His body was cremated.
PHILIPPI -- Pearl Marie Robinson, 79, a resident of 326 Maple St., Philippi, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at her residence.
She was born April 3, 1921, in Meridan, a daughter of the late Guy and Arizona Stemple Bennett.
On March 23, 1941, she married Carl Robinson, who preceded her in death on May 27, 1988.
Surviving are several nieces, one of whom she reared as a sister, Betty McCoy Bordeoux, Fort Myers, Fla.; several nephews and great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been also preceded in death by three sisters, Jessie Maxwell, Bessie Covington and Virginia Purkey and two brothers, Lawrence Bennett and Guy Bennett Jr.
Mrs. Robinson was a 1939 graduate of Philippi High School. She was last employed as a cook at the Philippi Senior Citizens Center.
She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and Philippi Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Crim Memorial United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 216 North Walnut St., Philippi, after 5 p.m. today. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. James Burdette and Speaker Robert "Buck" True officiating. Interment will follow in the Philippi Masonic Cemetery.
