WESTON -- The Buckhannon-Upshur-Lewis County rivalry is alive and well.
Travis Foster made two free throws with five seconds remaining in overtime and Buckhannon-Upsher forced a turnover on the ensuing possession to hold on for a 65-65 victory at Lewis County Saturday night.
The victory was the second straight for Buckhannon-Upshur (3-8, 2-5 NCAC), while Lewis County fell to 1-10, 0-8.
"We are starting to find ways to win the close games now," Buckhannon-Upshur coach Denny Crouso said. "I hope that we are turning the corner."
Nathan Smarr scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds for Buckhannon-Upshur. Jacob Mulneix led Lewis County with 14 points, while Brian Bailey added 14 rebounds.
Buckhannon-Upshur led 63-61 following Chad Winters' four overtime points, but Lucas Stalnaker hit a 3-pointer with 11 seconds remaining to give Lewis County its final lead. Foster converted both free throws on the next possession to steal the victory.
Buckhannon-Upshur led 29-23 at halftime before Lewis County send the game into overtime following Smarr's two free throws with 14 seconds remaining in regulation.
