Harrison County United Way at half-way point; donations on targ

by Gail Marsh

ASSISTANT CITY EDITOR

The United Way of Harrison County is mid-way through its 2000 campaign, and contributions are right on target, officials said Wednesday.

To date, campaign volunteers have raised $378,700, which represents 52 percent of the campaign's goal of $735,000.

Board members, company officials, volunteers and agency representatives heard a report on the campaign's development during a breakfast Wednesday at the YWCA in Clarksburg.

"The campaign is progressing extremely well as a result of the hard work of many individuals," said Bruce Carter, president of United Hospital Center and the campaign chair.

"I have no doubt that our division chairs and their volunteers will be successful in reaching our campaign goal," he said.

Twenty-one agencies receive support from the United Way of Harrison County. The fund-raising campaign will continue until the end of the year, with the major push to take place in the next four weeks, according to Ken Moslander, executive director.

"We're moving ahead at this point and seem to be on target. We've had some unexpected good news in some places and bad news in others. Hopefully it will balance out," he said.
