SHINNSTON -- Two Harrison County men were arrested late Friday night for allegedly murdering a Shinnston man.
West Virginia State Police arrested Joshua Matthew Jones, 19, 224 Sumner St., Clarksburg, and Ronald D. Wilfong Jr., 21, 950 Factory St., Shinnston, according to Harrison County Magistrate Court records.
Both face first-degree murder charges, according to the records, in the death of Charles Allen Carroll.
Jones and Wilfong were arraigned Saturday morning before Magistrate Brenda Anselene, who ordered them held without bond in the county Correctional Center.
According to court records, Carroll's body was found in a wooded area in the vicinity of the rail trail on Factory Street in Shinnston near the city limits.
Carroll had last been seen Wednesday at 9 p.m., and was reported missing to the Shinnston City Police on Thursday, according to court records.
Shinnston police first responded to the report of Carroll's body being found Friday afternoon. They later called state police to avoid any jurisdictional problems later in court.
Witnesses told police of an altercation possibly involving the victim and the two men, according to the court records. Carroll's body was found with bruises and lacerations.
State Police Trooper Mark Sanders continued to investigate the case Saturday and could not be reached for comment.
