NUTTER FORT -- Max L. Barnes, 71, of Stout Street, Stonewood, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
He was born June 21, 1928, in Lost Creek.
His wife, Wilma J. Cosner Barnes, survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Terry Barnes, Amarillo, Texas, Rick Barnes, Weston, and Dean Barnes, Clarksburg; two daughters, Tammy Barnes, Broad Oaks, and Sandra Tomaro, Clarksburg; four grandsons; six granddaughters; three stepsons, Rodney Riggleman, Clarksburg, Scott Riggleman, Texas, and Larry Cosner, Bridgeport; and one stepdaughter, Pam Joy, Stonewood.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having also been preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Mr. Barnes was previously employed at Pittsburgh Plate and Glass with 15 years service and was a retired carpenter. He was a member of the Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the Greathouse-Gemondo Funeral Home, Nutter Fort, from 2-9 p.m. Friday. Other arrangements are incomplete.
PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Arthur K. Bramer, 50, longtime resident of Perry, Ohio, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Lake East Hospital, Painesville.
He was born July 2, 1949, in Wallace, a son of the late Alex Bramer and Jeanne Van Nuffle.
Surviving are two brothers, Richard and Shirlene Bramer, Perry, and Alex and Donna Bramer, Carmel, Ohio; one uncle and wife, Billy and Sophia Bramer, Perry, with whom he made his home; and several nieces nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, William Bramer.
Mr. Bramer served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972. He was a member of AMVETS Post 1971, and was a former officer at the post. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing.
A graveside service will be held at Marshville Cemetery, Marshville, at 10 a.m. Saturday.

CLARKSBURG -- Nancy Smith Bush of Stealey Avenue, Clarksburg, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late John B. and Mildred Kirkpatrick Smith Jr.
Her husband, James R. Bush, whom she married Nov. 8, 1941, preceded her in death May 25, 1996.
Surviving are one son, John M. Bush, York, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Linda) Funk, York, Pa., and Mrs. Stewart (Ann) Kirby, Clarksburg; four granddaughters, Amy Funk Jackson, Elizabeth J. Bush, Katherine R. Bush, and Lauren E. Kirby; one great-granddaughter, Madison Jackson; and two step great-granddaughters, Linda Jackson and Angela Jackson.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters.
Mrs. Bush was a member of the Clarksburg Women's Club, a life member of the United Hospital Center Ladies Auxiliary, and a former member of the Sunny Croft Country Club. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Friends and family will be received at the Davis Funeral Home, 443 West Pike St., Clarksburg, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Craig Michael officiating. Entombment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Senior Care of North Central West Virginia, Inc., 1412 Buckhannon Pike, Nutter Fort, WV 26301.
CLARKSBURG -- Minnie Marie Cavallier, 59, of Lost Creek, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, following an extended illness.
She was born April 20, 1941, at Beulaville, N.C., a daughter of the late Ivey Kennedy and Mertie M. Lanier Kennedy.
Her husband, Joe Cavallier, preceded her in death in July 1990.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathleen Cavallier, Enterprise, Loretta and Rebecca Cavallier, both of Stonewood; two sons, Joe F. and Johnny Cavallier, both of Lost Creek; three stepdaughters, Patricia Riddle, Darlene Cavins and Mary Groggs, all of Deanville; three stepsons, Russell and Ronnie Cavallier, both of Jane Lew, and Jimmy Cavallier, Ohio; two brothers, Stephen Kennedy, Baltimore, Md., and Kirby Kennedy, Trenios, N.C.; one half sister, Iola Turner, Lewisburg, N.C.; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and a very much loved companion, Argile D. "Bob" Swiger Sr.
She was also preceded in death by one sister.
Mrs. Cavallier was a homemaker.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. George Cross presiding.
Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
MORGANTOWN -- Frances DeMarco, 78, of 772 Long St., Bridgeport, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at her home.
She was born June 2, 1921, in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Francesco Napolitano and Concetta Savarese Oliverio.
Her husband, Guy DeMarco, preceded her in death on May 16, 1982.
Surviving are two daughters and spouses, Francine Willison-Perry and Alan Perry, San Carlos, Calif., and Marcia DeMarco Wyant and Fred Wyant II, Morgantown; one brother, Paul "Brub" Oliverio, Bridgeport; four sisters, Mrs. Sam (Alveda) Tiano, Mrs. Neil (Lena) Sappington, both of Clarksburg, Mrs. Tony (Victoria) Caputo, Bridgeport, and Mrs. Cosmo (Margaret) Donato, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; more than 100 nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas, Bianco, Mario "Mutt" and Raymond "Duchie" Oliverio; and three sisters, Josephine Crispino, Argia Shablack and Louise Oliverio.
Mrs. DeMarco was co-proprietor of East End Lunch Restaurant in Clarksburg, and a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

CLARKSBURG -- Harold Elwood Gray, 78, of Route 3 Clarksburg, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, following a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 6, 1921, in Pomeroy, Ohio, a son of the late Leonard and Ada Myrtle Matney Gray.
He was married to Lucille Marie Sheaffer Gray, who preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 1998.
Surviving are one son, James Elwood Gray and wife, Rebecca, Clarksburg; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Joy Lynn) Reed, Erie, and Mrs. Tom (Dianne) Singleton, Gore; four grandchildren, Kelli Beverlin, Stephanie Gray, Elli Gray and Jennifer Gray; two great-grandchildren, Lindsey Beverlin and Madison Beverlin; one cousin, Randall Gray, who made his home with Mr. Gray; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having also been preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, James and Edgar Gray.
Mr. Gray was a retired coal miner with Eastern Associated, with 37 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was a member of the Morgantown and Monongahela Valley Beagle Club, the UMWA, the Hepzibah Baptist Church, where he taught men's Sunday school class, and was a member of the church choir.
Friends and family will be received at Davis Funeral Home, 443 West Pike St., from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Mr. Gray will be taken to the Hepzibah Baptist Church to lie in state for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Saturday, with the Rev. Don Flanigan officiating. Interment will be in the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
GLENVILLE -- Thelma Wright Hersman, 89, of Burnthouse community, died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Pine View Continuous Care in Harrisville, following an extended illness.
She was born June 9, 1910, in Ritchie County, a daughter of the late Noah Wright and Emma Riddle Wright.
Her husband, Samuel Hersman, whom she married Jan. 9, 1931, preceded her in death Oct. 1, 1989.
Surviving are one son, Samuel N. Hersman, Harrisville; one daughter, Sliva J. Byrd, Burnthouse; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Emmolene Hersman.
Mrs. Hersman was a homemaker and a member of the Dunkard Church and New Mount Olive Church.
Cora Roberta Allen Hovatter
WESTON -- Cora Roberta Allen Hovatter, 93, of Sunrise of Salem Nursing Home, formerly of Route 1, Jane Lew, died at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at the nursing home, following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 25, 1907, in Vadis, a daughter of the late Edward W. Allen and Louise Eakle Allen Westfall.
Her husband, Edmund Hovatter, whom she married June 29, 1946, preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1981.
Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Violet Triner, Harrison, Mich., and Ruby Allen, Ashtabula, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having also been preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Audra Allen; and two sisters, Mary V. Lownan and Effie Mowery.
Mrs. Hovatter was a registered nurse, working at the Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, and later at Doctor's Hospital in Erie, Pa. She also worked at Arthurdale Hospital, Arthurdale.
She was a graduate of Jane Lew High School, class of 1925, and a graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing, class of 1929.
She was a member of the Saint Matthew United Methodist Church.
Friends may call at the Boyle Funeral Home, 322 Main Ave., Weston, from 6-8 p.m. Friday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Joseph Sherve officiating. Interment will follow in the Broad Run Cemetery, Jane Lew.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Matthew United Methodist Church Building Fund, Weston.
WESTON -- Cornell Douglas Queen, 47, of 333 School Dr., Weston, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 3, 1953, in Lewis County, a son of Irene Dolan Queen, Weston, and the late Julius Queen.
Surviving are his fiancée, Debbie Suttle, two daughters, Patty and Pricilla Queen, one son, Doug Queen, and one stepdaughter, Michelle Smith, all of Weston; one stepson, Steven Sears, Washington, Pa.; several brothers, one sister, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Queen was a driller in the oil and gas fields.
The body was cremated at the family's request.
There will be no visitation or services.
