NUTTER FORT -- Don "Duck" Webster was elected mayor of Nutter Fort Tuesday night in a close race with Barry Calef.
Webster, a current city council member, won the election by 23 votes, 222-199.
In other results, Sam Maxson was re-elected as Nutter Fort's recorder with 377 votes. Cassandra Richison had 154 votes.
Maxson, who campaigned door-to-door "three or four nights," believes people in town are happy with city government.
"People seem content with the way we've done things in the past," Maxson said.
Also, the fire levy passed 303-133. The levy will affect the taxes of Nutter Fort residents from 2003-2005.
Used for trucks, equipment and gear, according to Fire Chief Tom Rohrbough, the levy will generate approximately $58,488 and will be continued on residents' personal property taxes.
In other races, three new candidates were elected to serve on city council.
Elected were Tom Betler, 303 votes, Barbara Gorby, 297 votes, Bruce Kidd, 297 votes, John Carter, 260 votes, and Kazem "Kuz" Nasseri, 246 votes.
Karen Ross Phillips was the next highest vote-getter with 239 votes.
