While many of Tuesday's municipal elections produced few close races or surprises, the race for mayor in Nutter Fort went down to the wire.
With unofficial results available at presstime, Don "Duck" Webster was the winner with 222 votes. Barry Calef finished with 199, while Larry Robey had 130.
That city also featured close races for five council positions, while the fire levy passed by an almost 3- to-1 margin.
The town of Anmoore featured some interesting races, as Denny Lamm won re-election as mayor, defeating four other candidates.
n In Bridgeport, L.J. "Joe" Timms and three council members easily won re-election.
n In Stonewood, Jim Nutter was re-elected mayor, while Sharon McIntyre was re-elected as city recorder.
n In West Milford, current mayor Roy "Don" Smith was re-elected. Debra Starkey won her unopposed race for recorder.
n In Jane Lew, Mayor Dianne Hicks and recorder James Minutelli will return to their positions.
n In West Union, Mayor Robert Heflin and recorder Etta Stadler were unopposed.
Voter turnout was low in most areas.
