The clock is ticking on the nominating process for the annual Citizen of the Year contest.
The deadline for nominations is March 1. Last year, more than 60 people from around the area were nominated.
"We're hoping to get even more participation in this event," said Clarksburg Exponent and Telegram Managing Editor John Miller. "If you know someone who works hard to help others, please take the time to nominate them."
This is a great opportunity to recognize those who truly make a difference in our community. Each of those nominated will be mentioned in upcoming articles and the top 10 will be featured in our annual Progress edition, which will appear in the Sunday, March 26 newspaper.
The top 10 will be honored at a banquet and receive a plaque to mark their accomplishment. The Citizen of the Year receives $1,000 to donate to the charity of their choice. The nine semifinalists receive $100 each for their favorite charities.
A nominating ballot can be found on Page A3 of today's paper.
