ST. MARYS, Texas -- Salem International finished the La Quinta Classic with a perfect 2-0 record with a 84-74 victory over Adams State on Saturday.
Again, Wykeen Kelly, who was the West Virginia Conference player of the week last week, had another big game for the Tigers (4-0). He finished with 20 points, four assists and only one turnover and made the all-tournament team.
Chucky Fine finished with 11 points, five assists and four rebounds, while Jason Dunham added 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
"I hope (Kelly) just keeps playing like he's playing," SIU coach Danny Young said. "I wish he would take more shots."
Kelly made eight of 10 shots in the game.
"Chucky did a great job on penetration and hit some big 3s tonight," Young said. "Defensively, Chucky and Wykeen set the tone."
Salem International now returns to action at home against Lees-McRace College on Wednesday.
