From time to time, we like to offer a tip of the hat to a deserving company, group or organization.
Today, the cap comes off in honor of Doddridge County's Family Resource Network.
Keryl King, an employee of the West Union Bank's loan department, considers the Family Resource Network efforts an essential part of her day.
The network established an after-school program that Ms. King said has enabled her to continue working.
"I know my kids are being well taken care of," Ms. King said. "And, they love it."
West Union's Angie McCune likes the Doddridge County Starting Points Center, which was established by the Family Resource Network.
Ms. McCune's 9-year-old daughter, Kristina Reed, has a variety of health problems. Ms. McCune considers the Starting Points Center an indispensable part of her daughter's care.
"I would be lost without them," Ms. McCune says. "The support network is great. ... It is an excellent place with caring people who treat you like a friend."
Currently, the Family Resource Network is planning an educational summit in March to rally the community around its children.
These initiatives are only a small part of what the Family Resource Network has done -- or plans to do -- for Doddridge County.
The people of Doddridge County are lucky to have this wonderful resource.
We commend all those who are working to make the Doddridge County Family Resource Network a smashing success.
Keep up the good work!
