BUCKHANNON -- Randy Joseph Bowman, newborn, of Akron, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000 at Akron General Hospital.
He was born March 1, 2000, in Akron, Ohio, a son of Randy L. and Jaclyn Perrine Bowman.
Also surviving are maternal grandparents, Delmar and Mary Perrine, Gaines; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Bowman, Mansfield, Ohio; paternal grandfather, Randy J. Bowman, Ohio; paternal great-grandfather, Earl Reeder, Buckhannon; paternal great-grandmother, Annabelle Rucker, Ohio; maternal great-grandparents, Riley and Annabell Lipps, Buckhannon; and maternal great-grandparents, Delmar and Ida Perrine, Buckhannon.
SHINNSTON -- Audra E. "Pat" Bragg, 82, of Lumberport, died Thursday, March 2, 2000 at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg following a brief illness.
She was born April 10, 1917, in Harrison County, a daughter of the late Effie E. Lowe Stier and Roy Stier of Mannington.
Her husband, Lawrence H. Bragg, preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1991.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ernest (Helen) Leggett, Lumberport; four grandchildren, Ernest "Sonny" Leggett, Patricia McCoy, Doralynn Gooden, and Lawrence Leggett; seven great-grandchildren, Josh Gooden, Glenda McCoy, and Arlin, Mandi, Sammy Jo, Alex, and Bree Leggett; and one stepbrother, Rev. Robert Davisson, Ohio.
Mrs. Bragg was a member of the New Covenant Fellowship Church in Cambria for 50 years, a member of the New Covenant Fellowship Women's Ministry, and was a faithful servant of the Lord.
Friends may call at the Dorsey Funeral Home, Shinnston after 2 p.m. today, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Gary Dennison officiating. Interment will be in the Lions Club Cemetery at Lumberport.
KINGWOOD -- Harry E. Goldstrom, 81, of Kingwood, died Thursday, March 2, 2000 at Windy Hill Manor in Kingwood.
He was born Jan. 24, 1919, in Morgantown, a son of the late Andrew O. and Alice Raynor Goldstrom.
His wife, Eleanor Pell Goldstrom, preceded him in death.
Surviving are one son, John Goldstrom, Reedsville; one daughter and spouse, Rita Goldstrom Decker and husband William, Shinnston; one brother, Allen E. Goldstrom, Berkeley Springs; and eight grandchildren, Wes, Craig, Colby and Cory Goldstrom, all of Reedsville, and David, Jennifer, Julie and Susan Decker, all of Shinnston.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Andrew Goldstrom.
Mr. Goldstrom was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the European Theater during World War II. He was a graduate of Masontown High School and attended West Virginia University.
He was a member of Preston Lodge No. 90 A.F. and A.M. in Kingwood, the George D. Jackson American Legion Post No. 56 in Kingwood, and the Wesley United Methodist Church.
FRENCH CREEK -- Fern Arah Haymond Henline, 91, of Kanawha Head, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at the home of her son.
She was born Feb. 3, 1909, at Kanawha Head, a daughter of the late William Lewis and Chloe Arah Haymond.
Her husband, Bea F. Henline, whom she married Sept. 12, 1927, survives.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, George and Charlotte Henline, French Creek, at whose home she died; five grandchildren, Edward Henline, Buckhannon, Timothy Henline, Pittsburgh, Pa., Richard Henline, Charleston, Kathy Henline, California, and Noreen Allen, New York; five great-grandchildren, Chantelle, Brittany, William, Daniel and Brandon; five foster daughters, Mary Myers, Lillie Allen, Eleanor Alkire, Kathy Malcolm and Dorothy Marsh; and one brother, Ross Haymond, French Creek.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, William and infant, Joseph and one infant daughter, Chloe.
Mrs. Henline was a foster mother to 26 foster daughters, a housewife and was Methodist.
Friends will be received at the Robert M. Vincent Funeral Home, French Creek, from 1-4 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Jessie assisted by the Rev. Clyde McCants officiating. Burial will be in the Haymond Cemetery, Kanawha Head.
WESTON -- Marvin C. "Shorty" Henline, 73, of 521 Maple Drive, Weston, died at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2000 in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston following a brief illness.
He was born May 5, 1926, in Horner, a son of the late Hebert and Madge Smith Henline.
His wife of 56 years, the former Holly Smith, whom he married Sept. 1, 1944, survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sue Eoff, Portland, Ore. and Janet Snyder, Walkersville; one sister, Bernice Cook, Heartland of Clarksburg Nursing Home; one half brother, James A. Henline; four grandchildren, Jeffery and Paige Eoff, both of Portland and Marshall and Benjamin Snyder, both of Walkersville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Henline was retired from M&M Motors, where he was vice president of the company. He was a lifelong member and past commander of Chapter No. 51, D.A.V.
He was a member of the Weston Masonic Lodge No. 10, A.F. and A.M., a member of Bigelow Chapter No. 4, Royal Arch Masons; a member of Saint John's Commandery No. 8, Knights Templar, past president of the Lewis County Shrine Club, and life sponsor of the Knights Templar Eye Foundation.
He was past president of the Weston Jay Cees and helped form and was a charter member of the Weston Midget Basketball League and also coached for several years. He was also an instructor at Tri-County Vocational School in Buckhannon.
Friends may call at the Boyle Funeral Home, 322 Main Avenue, Weston from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joseph Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Taylor County Honor Guard and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3081. Masonic graveside rites will be accorded by Weston Masonic Lodge No. 10, A.F. and A.M.
GRAFTON -- Nancy Barnard Kinter, 88, of Boyd Street, Grafton, died Friday, March 3, 2000 at 7:20 a.m. in the Grafton City Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born March 22, 1911, in Westernport, Md., a daughter of the late George A. and Harriet Grim Barnard.
Her husband of 50 years, Leroy Kinter, whom she married Feb. 3, 1942, preceded her in death Sept. 23, 1992.
Surviving are a very close friend since his birth, Hayward D. Poling, several cousins and many other very close friends.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having also been preceded in death by one brother, George H. Barnard.
Mrs. Kinter was a third grade teacher at First Ward and was formerly a city teacher for 11 years. She attended Trinity United Methodist Church.
She attended Pruntytown Public School and was a graduate of Fairmont State College, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Chi Sorority, now known as Alpha XI Delta.
She was a member of the Grafton Women's Club, Grafton Hospital Auxiliary, Friends of Taylor County Library, West Virginia Association of Retired Employees and Taylor County Retired Teachers.
She was also a member of the Classy Lassies, which included Katie Lambert, Pauline Brown, Naomi Keener, Nell Fleming and the late Blye Barry.
PHILIPPI -- Betty Lee Maxwell, 61, of Brownton, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at the Broaddus Hospital. She had been declining in health but her death was unexpected.
She was born May 4, 1938, at Brownton, a daughter of the late Charles C. and Ariona Stevenson Ketterman.
She was twice married, first to Clarence Tenne, who survives at Galloway, and later to Ruben Maxwell who preceded her in death.
Also surviving are one son, Clarence J. Tenne, Westover; five brothers, Clarence "Casey" and Russell Ketterman, both of Brownton, Ray Ketterman, Shinnston, Charles Ketterman, Kansas, and Frank Ketterman, Wendel; three sisters, Eleanor Audia, Philippi, Beulah Ketterman, Brownton and her twin sister, Carrie Temple, Painesville, Ohio.
She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter; three sisters, Anna Barbee, Margaret Audia and Mildred Ketterman; and three brothers, Harley, Luther, and Burton Ketterman.
Mrs. Maxwell was a former assembler for the Lionel Corporation in Detroit. She attended the Brownton Pentecostal Church of God.
COCOA, Fla. -- Harold E. McIntyre, 69, of Cocoa, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Lumberport, a son of the late Robert and Mamie Davis McIntyre.
His wife, Carol Wilson McIntyre, survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Vickie Jackson, Kathy McIntyre and Robin Vanslyke; one brother, Jackson McIntyre, Enterprise; two sisters, Betty Smith, Salem, and Joyce Tichner, Bridgeport; several grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorthy Reed and his stepfather, Norman Cooper.
Mr. McIntyre was retired from the Kennedy Space Center Fire Service for 32 years. He attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Rockledge, Fla.
PHILIPPI -- Coleen Miner, 67, of Union community, Route 1, Philippi, died early Friday morning, March 3, 2000 at her home following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 9, 1932, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Columbus and Hazel Mayle Croston.
Her husband, Clifford Miner, survives at Union community.
Also surviving are one son, Clifford J. Miner and wife Donna, Philippi; two daughters, Patricia Kennedy and husband Teddy, Philippi, Brenda Claybourne and husband Norman, Belington; one brother, Melvin Croston, Canton; two sisters, Trucilla Oney and Annie Weaver, both of Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Crystal M. Jack and husband Brian, Greg Kennedy and fianceé, June Williams, Elizabeth Kennedy, Joe Miner, Dustin Miner and Kaleb Kennedy; two great-grandchildren, Janessa and Jordanna Jack.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary A. Miner; one sister, Larkey Newman; one brother, Leland Croston; and one granddaughter, Stephanie H. Coleen Miner.
Mrs. Miner was a homemaker and attended the Ford Run Pentecostal Church.
SALEM -- Richard L. Reed, 71, of 304 Lincoln Street, Clarksburg, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 22, 1928, at Clarksburg, a son of the late Keith K. and Clara Mack Reed.
Surviving are one brother, Laco Reed, Pickerington, Ohio; one sister, Virginia White, Cleveland, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Keith Reed and by three sisters, Mary Nicholas, Alice Haggerty and Gerry Ruskey.
Mr. Reed was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 573. He was a retired farm worker.
There will be no funeral home visitation. The Grafton units of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will accord full military graveside rites at 10 a.m. Monday at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown.
BUCKHANNON -- Russell Duane Robinson, 75, of Route 6 Box 217, Buckhannon, died at 4:15 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2000 at his home.
He was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Buckhannon, a son of the late William and Liza Golden Robinson.
His wife, Fannie Riffle Robinson, whom he married Sept. 7, 1946, preceded him in death on March 13, 1989.
Surviving are three sons, Richard, David and Rusty Robinson, all of Buckhannon; two daughters, Barbara Nelson and Joyce Fultineer, both of Buckhannon; one brother, Dale Robinson, Buckhannon; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Robinson; four sisters, Rita Boyce, Freda Beckner, Reva Beckner and Versie Parker; and one granddaughter, Lisa Robinson.
Mr. Robinson was an antique dealer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. He was a member of French Creek Chapter No. 36 DAV.
PARSONS -- Elmer Roy, 73, of Parsons, died early Friday, March 3, 2000, at the Pittsburgh-Oakland Veterans Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He had been in his usual health and death was attributed to a stroke.
He was born Oct. 22, 1926, at Erwin, Preston County, a son of the late Arch and Londa White Roy.
His wife, the former Gwen Evans, whom he married July 7, 1978, survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert J. "Rob" Roy and wife, Lynn, Holly Meadows, David C. Jolly and Elmer Benjamin "Ben" Roy and wife Christine, all of Parsons; five daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Brenda) Lipscomb, Morgantown, Mrs. Roger "Sam" (Beckie) Smith, St. George, Mrs. Greg (Susan) Simmons, Virginia Beach, Va. , Theresa and Tony Roy, both of Holly Meadows; two brothers, Arch F. Roy, Liberty, Texas and twin Delmar Roy, Lanesville; and eight grandchildren, Jesse, Bonnie, Aaron, Joseph, Andrew, Eddie, Tana and Hope.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leon and Dick Roy, and four sisters, Norma L. Roy, Ruby Simmons, Helen Roy and infant sister.
Mr. Roy attended the schools of Tucker County. He was a coal miner for Valley Camp Coal Company and at the time of his retirement was employed by the former Bishoff Exxon of Parsons.
CLARKSBURG -- Joseph Sparango, 80, of Boyd Street, Clarksburg, died at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2000 in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born in Fort Washington, Pa., a son of the late Ralph and Beatrice Sparango.
His wife, Patricia Harris Sparango, whom he married Aug. 14, 1972, survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Patricia A. Sparango, Clarksburg, five brothers and four sisters.
He was also preceded in death by one brother.
Mr. Sparango was a construction worker for the Miller and Son Construction Company in Warminster, Pa. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Friends may call at the Davis Funeral Home, 443 West Pike Street, from noon-3 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, where Catholic funeral rites will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with Rev. Father Cesidio Federico as Celebrant. Interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery. Full military graveside rites will be conducted.
WESTON -- Donald Crit White, 58, of Route 2, Camden, died at 10:10 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2000 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born on Aug. 26, 1941, in Lewis County, a son of the late Daniel P. and Viola Keister White.
His wife, the former Carol J. Suttle, whom he married on Oct. 8, 1960, survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Donald P. White, Camden and Tim White, Summerville, S.C.; two daughters, Debby White, Camden and Tina Butcher, Weston; two brothers, Jim White, Woodbridge, Va. and Bill White, Weston; one sister, Brenda White, Camden; 10 grandchildren, four nieces and three nephews.
Mr. White was a United Mine Worker, and was employed by Salerno Brothers in Clarksburg. He was a member of Weston Moose Lodge, No. 1376 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He was an avid golfer and hunter and was a resident of the Camden community for 58 years.
